Hello, and welcome to the very first edition of Scale Tales from Bitter Little Pearl! Here I will be keeping you abreast of my progress, tips I picked up during the week, and little changes I’ve made along the way that really added up. You guys can chime in too with your progress, gains and losses, tips, tricks, and if you just need a pick me up!
As you can see from my weight tracker right there, I’ve lost 5.6 pounds in two and a half weeks! I’m freaking out excited about it because I’ve never had such good numbers on the scale before. Of course, back then I wasn’t making the wisest choices 100% of the time. Since I started on May 1st, I’ve been measuring everything like an obsessive freak, bought new measuring cups so we always have three sets on hand. Measuring really isn’t that bad, it’s just the bane of people who have no patience. But the patience pays off big time.
Lex’s New Habits
I mentioned it on Facebook a couple of days ago that I have implemented a rule that if I was nerding out on Facebook and Twitter, I had to sit on a balance ball. I have two Facebook accounts, one for me personally and one for my Lex Chase author persona, and it typically takes me an hour to get through both feeds. Twitter takes another 30 minutes to an hour. Might as well put that time to use!
So with my derriere on the balance ball, I happily nerd out on social media. But. And there is a but. When my core starts burning, my legs start aching, and I can’t stand it anymore? I have to get off Facebook and Twitter till next time I get the itch. I also edit recipe photos while sitting on the ball. Which that takes roughly 25 to 45 minutes depending on what I have to sort through. It adds up!
Lex Is Back At The Gym
Hell must have frozen over, because I’m going back to the gym again. My gym is Planet Fitness and I love it. I used to go there last year, but started strong and then my interest waned. My problem all this time is I needed someone to motivate me when I needed to motivate myself. Now it’s my trial by fire, because I must motivate myself.
Mom and I attended a Personal Training Class on Monday to get a custom program for each of us. The trainer had a lot of awesome suggestions for me because I have doctor’s orders of no running until my left knee is capable of it. I was doing a Couch to 5k before, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t make progress. Well, now I know it’s because my knee’s too weak and I’ve pushed it too hard. So now my cardio options are the elliptical machines, the ARC Trainer, or the stationary bikes. So options!
I went to the gym on Tuesday, following my program, and it was awesome! Today, I got up bright and squirrely for round two! Hell yeah!
