Thanks for having me again, Lex!
Wait, it’s not your birthday. (Or is it? If so, comment below about this happy coincidence.) Whose is it, then?
Well, to be perfectly frank, it’s mine. In three days, anyway. 8/28, such a round and lovely number.
When I was a kid, I would hear those cynical older people who went on and on about hating their birthday, hating getting older, hating the fuss, etc, and think them completely ridiculous. Who could hate their birthday? You have fun with cool people and get stuff, and at the end there’s even cake. What was wrong with those people?
How embarrassing to have to break the news to my younger self—you’ll become one of those people!

At some point I just realized it became more of an obligation for others than fun for me, and I enjoy being around people normally rather than being the center of attention. I’m an introvert, okay?
I also tend to like giving gifts more than getting them, and let me tell you that is a direct 180 from where I was as a kid. So, it might be a bit backwards, but I’ve decided for my birthday to give rather than receive.
What I hope to give is 1) a good time and 2) …
